The Dodgers have Yamamoto on the mound; he has a 7-2 record and a season ERA of under 3.00. In order to continue slowing down this Mets offense, he will be able to go farther into the game than the starters from Games 2 and 3.

Given that Boyd has made just two brief outings this post season and has not allowed a run, starting him in game three makes even more sense. Rather than playing from behind, I like Boyd to give the Guardians three or four innings of shutout ball, allowing his side to score first and advance.

Dylan Cease of the Padres had a rough start in Game 1 (13.50 ERA), but during the regular season, he was a strikeout machine with 9.9 K/9. The Padres are 45-36 at home and will look to close the series with their strong lineup

The Yankees are leaning on Clarke Schmidt, who had an up-and-down season with a 4.08 ERA but showed flashes of brilliance with his 9.0 K/9 rate. Seth Lugo for the Royals has been excellent in the postseason with a 2.08 ERA, holding opponents to a .210 average.

Quintana has postseason experience and will be key to the Mets’ hopes of advancing. The Phillies have struggled in elimination games, but their offense, ranked 6th in runs scored, can turn a game around quickly.

The Guardians have Alex Cobb on the hill, and he’s been solid all year, but Detroit’s Montero hasn’t given up a run yet. Tigers could take advantage of being at home with that rowdy Comerica crowd!
