Los Angeles Angels at Tampa Bay Rays
Odds: Angels -150 (Rays +125), Total: 8
Pitching Matchup: Jose Soriano (LAA) vs. Zack Littell (TB)
The Angels (7-3) are one of the hottest teams in the league out of the gate, riding a potent offense to a strong start. Los Angeles is averaging 5.0 runs per game with Mike Trout anchoring the lineup and plenty of early long balls from the supporting cast. They just took two of three in their last series and have momentum. Rookie Jose Soriano will make the start, and while he’s relatively untested, he’s backed by a lineup that can give him run support. One concern is the Angels’ bullpen, which has been shaky (already 4 blown saves); closing out games hasn’t been easy, so getting a cushion is key.
The Rays (4-6) have stumbled early, losing multiple close games. Tampa Bay’s offense has been inconsistent – Yandy Díaz and Randy Arozarena are doing their part, but the team is only around 4 runs per game so far. The Rays turn to Zack Littell to open this game. Littell is normally a reliever, so expect a bullpen game for Tampa. The good news is the Rays’ bullpen is deep and experienced in covering innings. However, facing Trout and a deep Angels lineup could wear them down. Tampa’s pitching will need to keep it close so their offense can manufacture enough runs.
Best Bet: Angels -150 (Moneyline). Los Angeles has the clear edge at the plate and enters with far better form. We’ll back the Angels to stay hot and grab the win on the road. Their lineup should put pressure on Littell early, and an early lead will allow their bullpen some breathing room. We’re locking in the Angels and will be tracking this play on the Kingpin app along with the rest of today’s bets.
Top Prop: Mike Trout over 1.5 Total Bases. Trout is seeing the ball well, and against a bullpen carousel game like this, he should find pitches to drive. All it takes is a couple of solid hits (or one gapper) for Trout to clear this number. We like the Angels’ star to make a big impact – tail this prop on Kingpin and watch for Trout to deliver extra-base hits.
Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians
Odds: White Sox +162 (Guardians -196), Total: 9
Pitching Matchup: Jonathan Cannon (CHW) vs. Gavin Williams (CLE)
It’s been a brutal start for the White Sox (2-8). Chicago’s offense has been nearly nonexistent, averaging just 3.2 runs per game (26th in MLB) with a team batting average under .200. Sluggers like Luis Robert Jr. and Eloy Jiménez have yet to find their groove, and the lineup has struggled to string hits together. On the mound, rookie Jonathan Cannon makes his debut/early-season start. Cannon will have his hands full trying to contain a Guardians lineup that, while not explosive, is more reliable than Chicago’s right now. The White Sox bullpen has been heavily used due to short outings from starters, so fatigue could be a factor if Cannon can’t go deep.
The Guardians (4-6) are also under .500 but have shown flashes. Cleveland’s strength is pitching and defense – and they’ll send out Gavin Williams, one of their promising young arms. Williams has electric stuff (he’s a strikeout machine when he’s on) and faces a White Sox lineup that has been striking out plenty. Offensively, the Guardians rely on All-Star José Ramírez to spark rallies. They’re averaging only about 4 runs per game themselves, but Ramírez and Steven Kwan have been getting on base and putting pressure on opposing pitchers. The Guardians’ bullpen, led by closer Emmanuel Clase, remains a strong point and should be an advantage in the late innings.
Best Bet: Under 9 Runs. Neither offense is firing on all cylinders, and we have two relatively unknown pitchers who could actually surprise. Williams has the talent to silence Chicago’s bats, and Cleveland’s offense tends to play small ball, which might not run up the score. With the Guardians’ bullpen being reliable and the White Sox offense slumping, we anticipate a lower-scoring game. We’re taking the Under and tracking it on the Kingpin app – a great spot where both teams might struggle to push the total to double digits.
Top Prop: José Ramírez over 1.5 Total Bases. Ramírez is the engine of Cleveland’s lineup and a doubles machine. He’s likely licking his chops at facing a rookie pitcher like Cannon. Whether it’s a couple of singles or an extra-base hit, J-Ram has a good chance to tally at least 2 bases. Back the Guardians’ star to deliver – you can find this prop on Kingpin and ride along with confidence in the Cleveland third baseman.
Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals
Odds: Twins +126 (Royals -152), Total: 8.5
Pitching Matchup: Bailey Ober (MIN) vs. Michael Wacha (KC)
The Twins (3-8) are reeling early in the season. Despite playoff aspirations, they’ve come out flat – scoring only 3.5 runs per game with a team batting average barely above .200. Key bats like Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton haven’t gotten hot yet, and Minnesota has lost several close games due to lack of clutch hitting. They’ll hope that Bailey Ober can play stopper. Ober is a solid, towering right-hander who can pound the strike zone and keep hitters off balance. He’s been one of the more reliable arms for Minnesota, and he may need to deliver a quality start to give the Twins a shot if the offense remains cold. One bright spot is the Twins’ bullpen has some power arms (Jhoan Duran at the back end) to keep games close if they have a lead.
The Royals (6-5), on the other hand, are off to a pleasantly surprising start. Kansas City has played competitive baseball, thanks in large part to the emergence of their young core. Bobby Witt Jr. has been stuffing the stat sheet with extra-base hits and stolen bases, providing a spark atop the lineup. Veteran Michael Wacha gets the ball for KC. Wacha, a savvy veteran, has brought stability to a rotation that desperately needed it. He isn’t overpowering at this stage of his career, but he mixes pitches well and can navigate a struggling lineup like Minnesota’s. The Royals’ bullpen, a weakness in past years, has shown improvement early on – they’ve held leads when given, with closer Scott Barlow (or his 2025 replacement) looking sharp. Playing at home, the Royals will look to stay above .500 by taking advantage of the Twins’ funk.
Best Bet: Royals -152 (Moneyline). It’s hard to trust the Twins until their bats wake up. Kansas City has the confidence and home-field edge here. Wacha’s experience and the Royals’ momentum make their moneyline our pick. We expect KC’s lineup to scratch out enough runs against Ober and a tired Twins bullpen. Lay the moderate juice on the Royals and follow this best bet on the Kingpin app – we’re backing the small favorite to get it done.
Top Prop: Bobby Witt Jr. over 1.5 Total Bases. Witt Jr.’s blend of power and speed means he can get to two bases in a variety of ways – a double, a couple of singles, or even a single plus a stolen base (if you’re in a book that counts steals towards bases, though most don’t). He’s been hot to start the year, and facing a righty like Ober, he’ll be aggressive. We like Witt to keep racking up extra-base hits. Jump on this prop and track it on Kingpin; the Royals’ young star could pay this off early in the game.
Milwaukee Brewers at Colorado Rockies
Odds: Brewers -132 (Rockies +110), Total: 8
Pitching Matchup: TBA (MIL) vs. Ryan Feltner (COL)
The Brewers (6-5) have been steady through the first week and a half, using a balanced approach to notch a winning record. Milwaukee’s offense is middle-of-the-pack (around 4.5 runs per game), but they have a mix of veterans and young talent contributing. Christian Yelich sets the table and has shown flashes of his old MVP form, and new addition Rhys Hoskins provides pop in the heart of the order. (Hoskins appears to have joined Milwaukee and is looking to make an impact after missing last season.) The Brewers have not officially announced a starter for this game – it could be a bullpen day or a call-up. Even so, Milwaukee’s pitching staff has been a strength, with a solid bullpen (closer Devin Williams is lights-out when they have a lead). They’ll trust their arms to handle a struggling Rockies lineup in the high altitude of Coors Field.
The Rockies (2-8) are in an early-season hole, and playing at Coors Field hasn’t provided the usual boost yet. Colorado’s offense has been unusually quiet (only 2 wins so far); even with veterans like Kris Bryant and young slugger Nolan Jones in the lineup, they haven’t capitalized on Coors’ hitter-friendly conditions. Ryan Feltner takes the mound for the Rockies. Feltner is a back-end starter who has had issues with control and keeping the ball in the park – not the ideal profile for pitching at Coors. On the plus side, Colorado’s bullpen is a bit more rested after an off day and will be ready if Feltner struggles early. The Rockies need their bats to wake up – perhaps facing an undecided/Brewers bullpen arm is an opportunity to jump on some mistakes. Keep an eye on former top pick Mickey Moniak (now with Colorado) who could be an X-factor against Milwaukee pitching.
Best Bet: Over 8 Runs. A total of 8 at Coors Field always catches the eye – that’s a low number in Denver. We’ll bite on the over. The Brewers’ unknown starter could lead to the Rockies scratching out a few runs, and Milwaukee’s lineup should do its part against Feltner, who carries a high ERA, especially at home. Both teams have the potential to contribute to this total, and even a 5-4 type game gets us there. We’re betting on runs at Coors and following this Over on the Kingpin app – don’t be surprised if this one sails past 8 by the middle innings.
Top Prop: Rhys Hoskins over 1.5 Total Bases. The thin air in Colorado is perfect for a power hitter like Hoskins. He’s still settling in with the Brewers, but a couple of well-struck balls here could easily find the gap or the seats. We love his chances to get at least a double or a pair of hits. Back the big man to do some damage – grab this prop on Kingpin and watch Hoskins swing for the fences at Coors.
Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox
Odds: Blue Jays -275 (Red Sox +220), Total: 9
Pitching Matchup: Chris Bassitt (TOR) vs. Walker Buehler (BOS)
Toronto (7-5) enters this AL East clash as sizable favorites, and for good reason. The Blue Jays are a stacked team with a potent lineup that’s starting to heat up. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette lead an offense averaging just under 4 runs per game, but they’re capable of erupting for much more on any given day. Vlad Jr. in particular has been seeing the ball well, making loud contact consistently. On the mound, Chris Bassitt brings veteran stability. He’s a pitch-to-contact righty who thrives with run support and usually keeps his team in the game through 5-6 innings. The Jays’ bullpen has been solid so far, with Jordan Romano anchoring the back end. Toronto is looking to build on a series win earlier this week and assert dominance over a division rival.
Boston (6-6) is treading water in the early going. The Red Sox have been up and down, splitting their first 12 games. Rafael Devers remains the centerpiece of the offense and is off to a strong start, but he could use more help – youngsters like Triston Casas and Masataka Yoshida (sophomore season) will need to step up to keep pace with Toronto’s firepower. The big storyline for Boston is Walker Buehler, the former Dodgers ace, who is making one of his first starts in a Red Sox uniform. Buehler is coming off Tommy John surgery (he missed 2024), so there may be rust and likely a pitch limit. In his first outing, he showed flashes of his old self but also gave up some hard contact. Boston’s bullpen has had a few hiccups, and in a game where Buehler might only go 5 innings, the relief corps will be crucial. Fenway Park could play small if the wind is blowing out – something to monitor, as both lineups have guys who can clear the Green Monster.
Best Bet: Over 9 Runs. We have two strong offenses in a hitter-friendly park, facing pitchers who might not be at their sharpest. Bassitt is reliable but Boston can nick him for a few runs at Fenway, and Buehler, while high-caliber, is likely not in peak form yet. Toronto could feast if Buehler makes any mistakes or if the Sox bullpen has to cover multiple innings. Look for a game that could turn into a slugfest by the middle frames. We’re on the Over, expecting both teams to contribute to a total in double digits. (As always, you can follow this pick on Kingpin – don’t forget to monitor the live total if you’re into in-game betting!)
Top Prop: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. over 1.5 Total Bases. Vlad Jr. loves hitting at Fenway, where his opposite-field power can turn into doubles off the Green Monster. He’s been swinging a hot bat lately, and we like him to tally at least a couple bases – whether it’s two singles or a ringing extra-base hit. With Buehler still finding his rhythm, Guerrero should get some pitches to drive. Take Vlad over 1.5 bases and watch for some fireworks from the Jays’ slugger. This prop is one of our favorites of the day – tail it on the Kingpin app and enjoy the show.
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
Odds: Phillies -160 (Braves +132), Total: 8.5
Pitching Matchup: Jesús Luzardo (PHI) vs. Spencer Schwellenbach (ATL)
The Phillies (7-3) are picking up right where they left off last season, coming out strong. Philadelphia has won seven of its first ten, thanks to a well-rounded team effort. Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner have been driving the offense with power and speed, respectively, and Bryce Harper’s veteran leadership (and bat) is always a factor even as he eases back into full-time action. Philly’s lineup is producing 5.0 runs per game (top 10 in MLB) and shows no signs of slowing. On the mound, they acquired Jesús Luzardo to bolster the rotation, and he’s been as advertised. The hard-throwing lefty has swing-and-miss stuff and has started the season strong. He’ll look to capitalize on an Atlanta lineup that has surprisingly underperformed. If Luzardo can neutralize the Braves’ big bats, the Phillies like their chances, especially with a reliable bullpen (José Alvarado, Craig Kimbrel, and company) behind him.
The Braves (2-8) are the shock of April so far, but for the wrong reasons. Expected to be a juggernaut, Atlanta has stumbled to only two wins. The talent is undeniable – Ronald Acuña Jr., Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, and Matt Olson form a scary core – but collectively the offense hasn’t clicked, averaging just around 3 runs per game. Some of that can be attributed to injuries and a slow start; some is facing good pitching. They’ll try to get on track against Luzardo, which won’t be easy. Spencer Schwellenbach will make the start for Atlanta. The rookie right-hander is highly regarded in the Braves system but is making a big leap here in a pressure spot. He likely won’t be asked to go deep; expect Atlanta to have a quick hook and deploy the bullpen if he runs into trouble. The Braves’ bullpen itself has had a couple of meltdowns during this rough start, so ideally Schwellenbach can keep the game close. Atlanta desperately needs a spark to turn things around – perhaps playing at Truist Park in front of the home crowd will ignite the offense.
Best Bet: Phillies -160 (Moneyline). It’s hard to fade Philadelphia given the current form of both teams. The Phillies have the advantage on the mound with Luzardo and a big edge in lineup consistency right now. Until the Braves show signs of breaking out of this slump, we’ll ride the hot hand. Philly to win is our play, and we’re comfortable laying the -160 in this spot. (If you’re looking for plus-money, Phillies -1.5 on the run line is an option too.) We’ll be backing the Phillies on the Kingpin app – join us in sweating Philly as they try to take down a division rival.
Top Prop: Trea Turner over 1.5 Total Bases. Turner’s contact ability and gap power make this a great spot for the over. He could easily notch two hits against the rookie pitcher or turn a single into a hustle double. Turner is also a threat to leg out an infield hit or stretch a blooper, especially against a Braves defense that’s been a bit sloppy during this losing spell. With the way Turner has been swinging (and running), we love him to accumulate at least two bases in this matchup. Follow this prop on Kingpin and watch one of baseball’s most exciting players light up the basepaths.
