On the road, they’ve alternated strong performances with complete offensive collapses.

The matchup issue: Carolina struggles to defend multi-back run schemes and play-action bootlegs — the two things San Francisco does better than almost anyone. Even without Aiyuk, the 49ers can stress Carolina horizontally and control pace.
