Rafael Nadal out of Indian Wells, Miami Open with hip injury

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, has withdrawn from the upcoming Indian Wells and Miami Open tournaments due to a left hip flexor injury that has kept him out of play since the Australian Open. The Spanish tennis star, a three-time winner at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and a five-time runner-up at the Miami Open, said in a Twitter post on Tuesday that he has started "rehab, gym and physiotherapy as instructed by the doctors" so he can "come back in the best conditions." Nadal has won 14 of his major titles at Roland Garros, including last year while dealing with chronic pain in his left foot. The men's tennis circuit will shift to European red clay after Miami, leading up to the French Open in late May.
