#8 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels will meet the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night for the 2022 National Championship of NCAA basketball. These two teams have not played each other since March 2013 where Kansas beat NC 70-58.
The Tar Heels have the chance to win their 7th National Championship and first under Hubert Davis. come in with a record of 28-9 overall and 5-4 playing in neutral sites. To get here North Carolina beat some of the toughest teams like Duke, Marquette, Baylor, UCLA and St Peter's. After two tense back-to-back games against Baylor and UCLA, things were a little easier for North Carolina in the Elite Eight as they hammered No. 15 seed St. Peter's to advance to the Final Four. In the Final Four match against Duke, Caleb Love led the Tar Heels with 28 points and Armando Bacot grabbed 21 rebounds. Bacot injured his ankle but X-rays came back negative so looks like he's ready to play the final.
Bacot is scoring 16.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. C. Love leads the team in assists with 3.7 for the Tar Heels. Both are currently considered second-round prospects for the NBA draft if they choose to enter.
The team is averaging 78.13 points per game and grabbing 39.57 rebounds. The Tar Heels have conceded an average of over 71.26 points per game while allowing over 42.49% from the field and 33.6% from beyond the arc.
#1 Kansas who are the favorites to win championshipsl, get here after beating Villanova, Miami, Providence, Creighton and Texas Southern. Kansas has been perhaps the most dominant team in the tournament, rolling into the Big 12 as the lone No. 1 seed still standing. In their last game after Villanova the Jayhawks crushed the ‘Cats' hopes with an avalanche of 3-pointers and David McCormack's inside power game. McCormack bulled his way through the Wildcats for 25 points and Ochai Agbaji went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc to finish with 21 points. Kansas hit 13 of 24 from 3 and scored 16 more points in the paint, offsetting a solid 3-point shooting night by Villanova.
Ochai Agbaji is averaging 18.9 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Jayhawks. Christian Braun is averaging 8.6 points over the last 10 games for Kansas.
The Jayhawks are averaging 78.3 points ranking #23 in offense while are grabbing 36.7 rebounds and shooting 47.78% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 67.21 points per game.
North Carolina are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games.
North Carolina are 11-1 SU in their last 12 games this season.
Kansas are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games.
Kansas are 10-0 SU in their last 10 games..
Both teams have outstanding offenses and are capable of getting shots all over the floor and you can say that the Jayhawks have the better defense but just look who the Tar Heels had to beat to get here. North Carolina had the toughest road on their way to the championship and they're ready for all. The Jayhawks only lost 6 games this season but haven't been great covering the spread with a 20-19 record in the season. This is going to be a close game from the beginning to the end so I'm taking the Tar Heels with the points.
PICK: North Carolina +4.5 (-110)
