The Florida State Seminoles will travel north and take on the Purdue Boilermakers for one of this year's ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchups.
Florida State has responded to a loss to in-state rival Florida with four straight non-conference victories, including a big win over Missouri. They will now face their stiffest test of the season yet when they take the floor Tuesday.
Purdue has one of deepest rosters in the nation and they have the look of a national champion. The Boilermakers have already picked up non-conference wins over Villanova and North Carolina, and they are sure to be contenders in the Big Ten this season.
Florida State (5-1)
Redshirt senior Malik Osbourne is has taken on a bigger role this season. The 6'8 forward scored 18 in the loss to Florida, and he leads the team in points (12.5) and rebounding (7.7).
Caleb Mills will have to take on a bigger role with point guard Rayquan Evans set to miss this one. Mills scored a season-high 17 points in the win over BU, and he's scoring 10.5 ppg.
Senior guard Anthony Polite brings a seasoned presence to the lineup, and he's averaging 9.3 ppg and 6.5 rpg.
Matthew Cleveland has fit right into the FSU rotation, and the freshman is also coming off of a season-high 17 points against Boston.
The Boilermakers rank second in the nation at 92.3 ppg, and it all revolves around strong veteran play and big man Zach Edey. The sophomore center is a mountain in the middle standing at 7'4 and he's proved to be too much for opponents so far this season. Edey leads the team in scoring (17.7) and rebounding (7.7)
Purdue possesses a senior duo like Trevion Williams and Sasha Stefanovic. Williams led the team in scoring last year, and he's scoring 13.3 ppg, while tying the team lead with 7.7 rpg.
Stefanovic is a versatile guard, who's one of the best snipers in the country at 47.5% from deep. He's third on the team with 13.2 ppg, while leading Purdue with 4.7 apg.
Jamal Ivey is second on the team in points (15.1) and assists (4.2).
The Seminoles might keep things close early, but the skill gap will eventually set in. There aren't many squads in the nation that can match Purdue from top to bottom, and the Seminoles aren''t one of those teams.
Take the Boilermakers spread Tuesday night.
PICK: Purdue -7.5
