The New Orleans Pelicans visit the Brooklyn Nets after winning their last 2 games on the road. The Nets are 6 points favorites after a strange blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
PELICANS MUST STAY HOT
The offense is showing up lately, they hung 128 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves and then went to LA to smash the Clippers beating them by 24 points.
New Orleans is 8-5 in its past 13 games and has scored at least 110 points in nine of those games. Brandon Ingram is playing at high level right now, he scored 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting and is averaging 27.8 points in his last four games. Jonas Valanciunas is also playing well of late for the Pelicans. He totaled 18 points and 16 rebounds on Thursday and has a double-double in five of his past seven games and 29 overall.
This is how they gotta keep playing if they want to beat the Nets because the defense is not the part where you can count on. The team has the sixth-worst defensive efficiency rating in the league with opponents averaging 111 points per game against them on the road. Facing Durant and Harden is not going to be easy for them.
The Nets are coming from a strange blowout by the Oklahoma City Thuder. After smoking the Chicago Bulls, which was their biggest win of the season, they had to give Kevin Durant and Patty Mills a breather. James Harden bravely led the charge but was clearly running on fumes as well, as they suffered defeat.
Durant is expected to return and a day off should hopefully be enough to make them resemble themselves more than what they showed against the Thunder. The 11x All-Star leads the league in scoring with just a shade under 30 points per game. He also has 7.5 rebounds and a career-best 5.9 assists.
On the defensive side they're allowing 109.2 points per game. Opposing teams are averaging only 32.6 % shooting from long distance against them this season.
Brooklyn are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games at home but they're 6-0 in their last 6 games against the Pelicans.
I'm not going to trust 6 points on the Nets as they have a terrible 4-17-1 ATS record at home this season. The Pelicans have covered the spread in 6 of their last 10 games. What I'm looking here is at the total. The over has cashed in 9 of the last 10 head to head games and in 10 of Brooklyn's last 15 games. Over has also cashed in 4 of New Orleans' last 5 games on the road.
PICK: OVER 230.5 (-110)
