The San Antonio Spurs will host the Dallas Mavericks for their third matchup this season. The Mavs have taken both meetings this season, and they've won four straight dating back to last season.
The Dallas Mavericks had their three-game win streak snapped last time out when they lost to the Chicago Bulls. The Mavs have jumped out to a steady start, and they haven't lost back-to-back games yet this season,
Luka Doncic seems to get better every season, and this year is no different. After stinging Boston for the second year in a row with a game winner, the fourth-year guard flirted with a triple-double against the Bulls.
Kristaps Porzingis has made an immediate impact since returning from injury, and he posted his second double-double of the season against Chicago. The former Knicks big is second on the team in scoring (15.5) and rebounding (7.5).
Tim Hardaway Jr. is a threat to catch fire any night, and he's hit three or more treys in five of his last six games.
San Antonio Spurs
Dejounte Murray is the new face of Spurs basketball, and it seems to be in good hands. Murray has flirted with triple-double production in every game this, and he's putting up career-highs across the board. The former UW guard is averaging 17.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg, and 8.3 apg.
Keldon Johnson may be taking a step forward in year three. He's second on the team in scoring, averaging a career-best 16.2 ppg.
Derrick White and Lonnie Walker bring more versatility to the backcourt, with the former being second on the team in assists with 5.6.
Jakob Poeltl's absence will be felt in this one, as the former Utah man has brought stability to the middle, posting four double-doubles in seven games.
Dallas has already taken both meetings between these two teams by a combined six points, but it's very hard to defeat a team three times in such a short span. Now while Spurs will enter this one on the heels of their best win of the season, they will also enter this one without Jakob Poeltl, and the Mavs are set to have Porzingis this time around. Their size disadvanatage may be their downfall tonite, so we'll see if Dallas can rip off a third straight victory over their in-state foes.
Take Dallas' spread this evening.
PICK: Dallas Mavericks -2.5
