Preview
The Charlotte Hornets will travel south and take on the Orlando Magic this evening.
Charlotte is in the midst of a hot stretch of play, and their winners of six of their last seven contests. The Hornets blessed bettors with an road underdog victory over the Washington Wizards.
Orlando is enduring a miserable stretch of play, as their losers of six of their last seven.
Charlotte Hornets
LaMelo Ball's play has picked up in his second season as well. After cooling off from a hot start, Ball has scored 20+ in three of his last five games. Ball's averaging 19.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg, and 7.7 apg, and slowly turning into a triple-double threat nightly.
Miles Bridges has asserted himself as a frontrunner for the NBA's Most Improved Player Award with his impressive start. He's cooled down a bit since the return of Terry Rozier, but Bridges leads the team in scoring (20.8).
Scary Terry was surgical in the win over Washington, providing a handful of ankle breaking bucket. The former Louisville guard is averaging 15.9 ppg, and provided a big spark since returning to the lineup.
Gordon Hayward and Kelly Oubre Jr. bring unique skillsets to the lineup. Hayward's ability to score, rebound and distribute has been on display early, while Oubre's two-way style has made life simpler on Miles Bridges. Oubre is coming off a career-high 37 points in the win over Memphis.
Orlando Magic
The Magic will have to go at it tonight without leading scorer Cole Anthony. The second-year guard has taken a respectable leap, improving all of his rookie averages across the board with 19.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, and 5.9 apg.
That's a lot of production to replace, which makes Jalen Suggs a very interesting DFS play this evening. The rookie guard is averaging 11.8 ppg and 3.4 apg.
Franz Wagner is second on the team in scoring (12.4), while Wendell Carter Jr. is averaging 12.2 ppg and a team-leading 9.3 rpg.
Prediction
The Hornets are quietly the hottest team in the Eastern Conference, while the Magic have already assumed their positions as doormats of the East. Charlotte's winning ways should continue here, and we trust their firepower enough to cover this manageable margin tonight.
Take Charlotte's gift like spread tonight.
PICK: Charlotte Hornets -7.5
