Preview

The Rangers begin a four-game series against the Orioles tonight at Oriole Park.  Texas is coming off of being swept by the Yankees and is on a four-game losing slide.  With 10 games still remaining in the season, the Rangers look destined to hit 100 losses in 2021.  The Orioles are already well over 100 losses and were one of the first teams eliminated from playoff contention this season.  They've only won 2 of their last 7 games including an upset over the Yankees exactly one week ago.  Since then their only win was a shutout of the Phillies but ended up losing the next two games to lose the series 2-1.  Baltimore is currently on a two-game losing streak heading into tonight's series opener.

Glenn Otto (0-2, 9.37 ERA) The rookie Glenn Otto is set to make his 5th start of the season for Texas.  Otto has a 9.37 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP in his first season through 16.1 innings.  In that span, he's surrender 21 hits for 17 ERs and only a single home run while walking 6 batters and striking out 19.  In his last game, he pitched 3.1 innings and gave up 7 hits for 7 ERs. 

Orioles

Zac Lowther (0-2, 9.61 ERA) Another rookie pitcher in Zac Lowther will start for the Orioles.  It's his 5th start in 2021 and in 8 games so far Lowther has a 9.61 ERA.  Through 19.2 innings pitched he gave up 25 hits resulting in 21 ERs and struck out 19 batters while walking 11.  Lowther will face a Rangers club who are middle-of-the-pack against lefties this year getting 383 hits off left-handed pitchers for 175 runs.

Prediction

These are two of the worst scoring teams in the majors this entire season and have both struggled to put runs up on the board.  They both average 2.33 runs per game in their last 3 games, ranking them both in the bottom four in that span.  Even with rookie pitchers on the mound, it may seem too tall a task for these teams to meet the over.
