The Pittsburgh Pirates and the St Louis Cardinals will play the 4th game of the 4-game series on Monday afternoon. The Pirates smashed the Cardinals in the third game on Sunday and won the game 9-4. The Cardinals have the lead 2-1 in the series.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates struggled to score in the first 2 games of the series against Wainwright and the Cardinals bullpen but in the third game Michael Chavis hit a go-ahead grand slam as the Pittsburgh Pirates overcame a three-run, third-inning deficit and beat St Louis 9-4. Roberto Perez, Hayes and Bryan Reynolds singled in the third before Chavis' home run. Diego Castillo added three hits for the Pirates.

The starter Bryse Wilson allowed 5 hits and 3 runs in 4 innings pitched, he ended with a 6.75 ERA.

Probable Pitcher:

Zach Thompson (0-0, 0.0 ERA) will take the mound in the 4th game of the series for the Pirates. Though Thompson finished his rookie season in Miami with a 3.24 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 75 innings, the Marlins didn't have room for him in their rotation entering 2022. He should have a longer leash on a starting role in Pittsburgh.

St Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals got their first lost of the season in the third game of the series. They put themselves ahead in the game real quick in the first inning with a scarifice fly from O'Neil and a two-run homer from Nolan Arenado but after that the Pirates grand slam came and the Cards couldn't picked up since then.

The starter Steven Matz had a terrible first game allowing 9 hits and 7 runs in just 3 innings but he also had 5 strike outs.

Probable Pitcher:

Dakota Hudson (0-0, 0-0 ERA) will be on the mound for the Cardinals in the 4th game of the 4-game series. Hudson's recovery from September 2020 Tommy John surgery limited him to just one late-season start in 2021, but the Cardinals will be counting on him to serve as a full-time member of the rotation during the upcoming campaign. He worked two scoreless frames and covered 40 pitches in the Cardinals' 4-3 win over the Marlins in spring training.

The total has gone OVER in 5 of Pittsburgh's last 7 games.

Pittsburgh are 5-15 SU in their last 20 games on the road.

St. Louis are 15-5 SU in their last 20 games.

St. Louis are 10-4 SU in their last 14 games at home.

The Cardinals offense is looking good so far as they have scored 19 runs total in their first 3 games of the season while the Pirates struggled in their first two games but a grand slam helped them to win the 3rd game. The Cardinals have the better team and shoud be able to close this series with a win.

PICK: Cardinals -1.5  (+100)
