Preview

We have the White Sox taking on the Pirates at home in what will be the last game of this short 2 game series.  The White Sox are finally fully healthy and sit comfortably ahead in the AL Central, up 10 games on Cleveland.  The Pirates have been bad all year and are taking some looks at their younger prospects as they prepare for next season. Look for the White Sox to come out firing on all cyclinders in this one when they take on struggling right hander Mitch Keller.

Mitch Keller (4-10, 6.75 ERA) will take on the task of slowing down this White Sox team today.  The young right hander comes into this game with an awful 1.81 WHIP and 5.54 XFIP.  He's striking out 19.9% of hitters, while allowing a 11.1% walk rate.  Mitch Keller has been bad this this year, he gives up too much hard contact and power.  Facing a healthy White Sox lineup will not change his fortune and he will need to throw strikes if he has any chance of succes today.

Carlos Rodon (10-5, 2.43 ERA) will be on the bump to take on this depleted Pirates team.  He comes into this game with excellent numbers this year, boasting a 0.97 WHIP and 3.44 XFIP.  He's striking out 35.4% of the hitters he faces and thats accompanied by a 6.4% walk rate.  This Pirates projected lineup strikes out against left handed pitching at a 26.7% clip.  Look for Rodon to have success against one of the weaker left handed hitting teams in the league.

Prediction

By the looks of it Mitch Keller could be in for a long (or short) night.  Keller has allowed too many walks, too much premium contact, and too much power. The White Sox boast one of the best lineups when fully healthy and should get to Keller with ease.  Rodon has been one of the better pitchers this year and should cruise to an easy win against this depleted Pirates team.
