The Phillies will play their final game of a three-game road trip to Milwaukee tonight in a matchup of division-winner hopefuls versus wild card contenders. The Brewers sit in 1st spot in the NL Central 11 games ahead of the Reds. The Phillies still trail the Braves by only two and a half games and will ensure that the race for the NL East division title goes down to the wire. This series is deadlocked at one game apiece with each loser so far being shut out. Philly stunned the Brewers by a 12-0 on Monday night to take the series lead, but Milwaukee bounced back last night winning 10-0 to level it up. The Phillies can't afford any more slip-ups after going down to the Marlins 2-1 in tier last series, one that should have seen them gain more ground on Atlanta. The Brewers are coming off of a 2-1 series win against the Cardinals after an impressive 3-1 win over the league-leading San Francisco Giants. Their aim is to clinch their division and automatic playoff spot as soon as possible
Kyle Gibson (10-6, 3.30 ERA) Kyle Gibson will be first to the mound for the Phillies tonight. It's the 26th start of the season for the experienced right-handed pitcher. Gibson has a 4.46 ERA since joining Philly from the Rangers which takes his 2021 season ERA to 3.42; a career-best for him. He has 155.1 IP this season and was hit 132 for 57 ERs. That to go along with 120 strikeouts and 55 walks.
Freddy Peralta (9-4, 2.70 ERA) Freddy Peralta is in line for his 24th start of the season. The fourth-year pitcher has a 2.70 ERA in 2021 which is better than his 4.25 ERA in 2018, 5.29 ERA in 2019 and 3.99 ERA in 2020. Peralta pitched for four innings against the Phillies this season and had five ERs off four hits in addition to three walks and eight strikeouts.
The Brewers after back in the driver's seat after being humiliated in game one. They will wrap up this series tonight at home.
PICK: Brewers -1.5 (+125)
