Preview

We'll receive a battle of talented leftys when Seattle Mariners and the Chicago White Sox will play game two of their three-game set this evening in primetime. Chicago avoided the upset yesterday, picking up the 3-2 win. 

The Mariners nearly added another underdog, come from behind victory last evening, but they came up a bit short. Seattle is only batting .183 right now as a team, and they need more Ty France and Mitch Haniger here on the road.

The White Sox prevailed in their home opener to earn their third straight win yesterday. Chicago ranks fifth in the majors in batting average early at .259, and that number should spike with the return of All-Star Tim Anderson.

 

Pitching matchup

Mariners

Robbie Ray (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will get the call for Seattle here. The ten-year left hander had a tremendous season in Toronto, posting career bests in ERA and strikeouts and winning the 2021 Cy Young Award, before joining the Mariners this winter. Ray delivered an impressive debut on Opening Day, tossing five strikeouts over seven innings of work. He could just follow that strong performance up here in primetime.

 

White Sox

Dallas Keuchel (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will get the make start for Chicago. Keuch has been one of more consistent left handers in the league over the past eight seasons, winning eight games or more each year during that span aside from going 6-2 during the pandemic-altering 2020 season. Keuchel will be making his season debut here, and he posted a 9-9 record last season.

 

Prediction

The White Sox look very appealing in primetime here. If Keuchel is able to contain the Mariners lineup, he should receive the run support he needs at home. Tim Anderson's return makes them even stronger, and I like the host to win here.

With Seattle's prowess to both win and lose games close, play it safe and take the White Sox moneyline.
