The Arizona Diamondbacks will host the Seattle Mariners for a three-game series. This will be the first times these two clubs meet this season.

The Mariners played consistent baseball for what felt like the first time all year in August. After an ugly four-game skid to start the month, Seattle kept themselves in the AL Wild Card picture with over a handful of late-inning victories. They shut the Astros out on Monday, and with six matchups with the Diamondbacks in the next two weeks, they should remain in the midst of the playoff race.

The Diamondbacks had a solid stretch of play last month that included a sweep over the Phillies and a near-sweep over the Padres. They cooled off a bit, but their coming off of a 8-3 win over San Diego. They've been pretty solid at home this season, and will be worth a look tonight. Ketel Marte has a hit in 14 of his last 15 games.

Pitching matchup

Tyler Anderson (6-9, 4.06 ERA) will start for the Mariners. He's settling in well with Seattle after coming over from Pittsburgh at the deadline. He's arguably coming off of his best start of the season against the Royals last week. Anderson pitched seven innings and struck out a season-high six batters. In his last start with the Pirates, ironically Anderson pitched well on the road against Arizona, going six innings and striking out six.

Madison Bumgarner (7-9, 4.37 ERA) will start for the Diamondbacks. The 3x World Series champ has provided more than just name value this season. He's been iffy on the road this year, but he's been terrific at home. MadBum's last five home starts have been vintage, and he's given up one run or less in four of those. He only gave up one hit over eight innings in his last start at Chase Field.

Two of Randy Johnson's former teams should provide some good fall baseball for both bettors and fans. Seattle is somewhat hitting their stride at the right time, while Arizona, despite being in the basement of the NL West, continues to play solid baseball at home. We feel good trusting MadBum against a managable lineup at home tonight, and them being underdogs makes it even sweeter. Take the Diamondbacks moneyline tonight.
