Preview
The Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies will play game two of their four-game set from Coors Field this Friday night. The Cubs jumped out to a quick 3-run first inning last night and won the first matchup, 5-2.
The Cubs should continue to be competitive this season, and they're batting .243 as a team. Seiya Suzuki looks like the next international sensation early, and they're really appealing as underdogs tonight.
The Rockies have looked solid early despite the departure of star shortstop Trevor Story. This will serve as a revenge series for newcomer Kris Bryant, who's recorded three straight multi-hit games.
Pitching matchup
Cubs
Marcus Stroman (0-0, 1.80 ERA) will get the call for Chicago on the road. The ninth-year pitcher posted a 10-13 record with a 3.02 ERA before coming over from the Mets this winter. Stroman pitched well in his Cubs debut, striking out three while only allowing one run over five innings of work.
Rockies
German Marquez (0-0, 1.29 ERA) will make the home start for Colorado. Marquez has been a mainstay atop the Colorado rotation since 2017, and he's been profitable at Coors over the years. The 2021 All-Star was impressive in his season debut against Los Angeles, only allowing run over seven innings of work, while fanning five Dodgers.
Prediction
After having their four-game win streak snapped last night, the Rockies come into this one with their ace on mound, and there's a good chance they get back in the win column. Throw in Kris' Bryant's revenge factor, and we have a recipe for a good nite at Coors.
Take Colorado's run line here.
PICK: Rockies -1.5 (+150)
