Tonight we have the Brewers taking on the Cardinals. The Brewers have locked up a postseason spot and will look to get all systems in sync heading into the postseason. The Cardinals have been on an absolute tear of late, winning 16 straight and showing no signs of slowing down as this run has them almost as a lock to secure the second NL wildcard spot. The Cardinals were able to sweep this Brewers team the other week and they'll look to continue this form into the postseason.

Pitching matchup

Brandon Woodruff (9-10, 2.52 ERA) will be on the mound for the Brewers when they take on the Cardinals. Woodruff enters this game with a 0.95 WHIP and 3.05 XFIP, both great numbers. This season he boasts a nice 30.5% strikeout rate along with a 6.2% walk rate. Woodruff has been excellent this year. He's been able to induce soft and poor contact while limiting quality and power to both sides of the plate.  He comes into this game after just facing this Cardinals team, he went 6 innings, stirking out 10, while allowing 1 earned run in that one.  He should be able to find similar success tonight against this Cardinals team.

Adam Wainwright (16-7, 3.05 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Cardinals when they host the Brewers. Wainwright enters this game with a 1.04 WHIP and 4.25 XFIP. This season he carries a 20.5% strikeout rate along with a 5.9% walk rate. Wainwright has been excellent for the Cards this season. Left handed hitters have been able to get to him for some power but other than that Wainwright has been able to handle both sides of the plate and induce poor contact.  He comes into this game after going 4 innings while allowing 5 earned runs against this same Brewers team. He will look to bounce back tonight and help his Cardinals team win their 17th straight.

I'll be looking to target the better pitching in this one. Woodruff has been elite this year and although Wainwright has been good in his own right, I see an easier path for Woodruff to be succesful here. I'll take the Brewers with their elite pitching to end the Cards nice run.
