Preview
The Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Indians will wrap up their three-game set this Sunday evening. The Angels were outscored 14-2 by the Indians in the first two games.
The Angels are arguably the most inconsistent team in baseball. Fresh off of a sweep of the hot Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles has come into this series flat at the plate and the mound. They've only been swept twice this season, and with each loss they fall further from the final AL Wild Card spot.
The Indians have won four of their last six games, with both losses coming in extras to the Twins. Cleveland's got it going at the plate right now and they've has only scored less than four runs once in the past seven games. Star slugger Jose Ramirez is leading the charge, and he'is riding a three-game home run streak.
Pitching Matchup
Angels
Jose Suarez (5-6, 3.88 ERA) will get the ball for the Angels. The third-year pitcher fared well initially after joining the starting rotation, but he's lost his last three starts due to a lack of run support. He's only given up more than three runs in one of his past six roads starts, and he could help the Angels avoid the sweep Sunday.
Indians
Cal Quantrill (3-2, 3.24 ERA) will get the home start for the Indians. He's beginning to settle in well with the starting rotation after leaving the bullpen last month. His last four home starts have been flawless, including a seven inning-two, ten-strikeout performance against Detroit a couple of weeks ago.
Prediction
The Angels' bats always makes them appealing, but they aren't showing up right now. The absence of Mike Trout is really beginning to show, because beyond Shohei Ohtani and David Fletcher, Los Angeles has struggled to find consistency from any other player at the plate.
Meanwhile, the Indians are locked in at bat and sending their hottest pitcher to the bump. If Quantrill receives the same run support the bats have been providing, Cleveland could complete this sweep. The Indians are 15-1 at home against the Angels since 2015, so we'll sway their way Sunday. Bet on the Cleveland Indians to win, and take the over 9, with both lineups sending potent bats to the plate.
PICK: Indians -1.5 (+142) and OVER 9.0 (-110)
