Preview

Chase Field plays host to the Atlanta Braves for game two of a four-game series against the Diamondbacks.  Atlanta won game one by an 11-4 scoreline to lead the series 1-0.  They had been faltering recently but now find themselves on a two-game winning run.  They're only three games ahead of the Phillies in the NL East and are trying to wrap up the division title.  Arizona has won one of their last seven games and has now gone past 100 losses for the season, only one of two teams with triple-figure losses.

Jesse Chavez (3-2, 2.67 ERA) Jesse Chavez will start tonight for the Braves.  Chavez, now in his second stint as a Braves - the first back in 2010 - has only started one of 26 other games this season and has a 2.67 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.  He's been in the league since 2008 and is a career 4.47 ERA pitcher across his long career. 

Diamondbacks

Luke Weaver (3-5, 4.42 ERA) Luke Weaver is in line to start his 12th game of the season with a 3-5 record and a 4.42 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 2021 and has a career ERA of 4.67.  Weaver has 55 innings pitched this season giving up 48 hits for 27 ERs.  He also has 49 strikeouts compared to 16 walks.  

Prediction

The Braves haven't been very efficient on defense recently but game one seemed to set a precedent as to how this series will go with runs on the board.  Arizona's defense hasn't been good so expect the Braves to put runs up.
