Preview

The Athletics will face off against the Royals in game two of a three-game road trip to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.  Oakland lost the first game in a high-scoring 10-7 contest.  The A's still sit with an outside chance of Wild Card qualification but will need to rebound with a victory tonight to close the gap.  The Royals pulled on a great win last night which now sees them with four wins in the last five games.  In their last series, they beat the Twins 2-1 after splitting a road series 2-2 with the Orioles.

Sean Manaea (9-9, 3.79 ERA) Sean Manaea is expected to start for the Athletics tonight.  Manaea is 9-9 this season with a 3.79 ERA a 1.21 WHIP and 174 strikeouts and only 37 walks over 156.2 innings pitched.  Manaea is the joint leader in shutouts this season with two in his 28 game appearances so far.  He also has 66 ERs off 152 hits in 2021. 

Royals

Mike Minor (8-12, 5.05 ERA) Mike Minor will be the first to the mound for the Royals for his 29th start of the season.  Minor has already played the Athletics once this season where he pitched for seven innings and was hit only three times for one ER.  He also struck out eight batters and walked on more and had an ERA of 1.29.

Prediction

Batting for both of these clubs has been red hot recently.  The A's gave up some late hits last night that cost them the ball game, but don't expect that to be the case once again. They'll recover and even the series tonight.
