Preview

The Braves take on the Rockies tonight in Colorado, the 2nd game of this 4 game series.  The Braves enter play currently atop of the NL East, 2 games ahead of Philly.  They will look to strengthen that lead tonight against the Rockies.  The Rockies have been mediocre this season but very good at home, they are 10.5 games out for the 2nd NL wildcard spot so there really is no hope for the playoffs.  The Braves took game 1 lastnight, winning 6-5.

Pitching matchup

Braves

Huascar Ynoa (4-4, 2.90 ERA) will take the mound for the Braves in Colorado.  Ynoa comes into this game with a 1.00  WHIP and 3.28 XFIP.  He carries a nice 28.4% strikeout rate, paired with a 5.9% walk rate.  Ynoa has been good in his 3 starts since returning from the injured list, adding a pair of quality starts in 17.1 innings, striking out 16 hitters, and allowing 5 ER's.  Ynoa mainly throws a mid to high 90's fastball and a slider, a not so good recipe for Coors field. He will look to keep up  his nice run of starts tonight against the Rockies.  

Rockies

Antonio Senzatela (3-9, 4.18 ERA) will be on the bump when they take on the Braves tonight.  Senzatela comes into this game with a 1.34 WHIP and 4.41 XFIP. He carries a low 16.1% strikeout rate attatched with a 5.3% walk rate.  Senzatela purely relies on getting groundballs when he pitches, evidenced by his 52.7% GB rate.  His groundball prowess has been a good recipe for success while pitching in Coors field.  He enters this game having 7 quality starts in his last 9 games, going 7 innings deep in 3 of those. He will look for his 4th win of the season tonight.

Prediction

We have 2 decently good pitchers on the mound tonight for a game in Coors field.  Ynoa has looked good since returning from injury, while Senzatela has been on a nice tear of starts.  Although I don't like Ynoa's pitch mix coming into this game I think he does enough to limit the Rockies offense.  Senzatela has succesfully relied on getting ground ball outs and I see the same thing happening tonight, limiting the run production for the Braves.
