The Gonzaga Bulldogs wil host the BYU Cougars this Thursday evening
The Cougars have been really good this season, and they enter this battle the winners of six of their last seven games. Their on the heels of a strong win over St. Mary's, 52-43.
The Waves took on one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country and walked away with victories over UCLA, Texas, and Texas Tech. The started West Coast Conference play with a win over Pepperdine.
BYU (14-3)
Alex Barcello is the catalyst of Mark Pope's attack. The 6'2 Arizona transfer scored a season-high 28 points against Creighton, and he hit four three's in the blowout victory over Pacific. He leads BYU with 17.4 points per game
Veteran guard Te'Jon Lucas transferred in after leading Milwaukee U in scoring, and he's second on the team with 10.1 ppg and 4.5 apg.
Youngsters Caleb Lohner and Fousseyni Traore start up front for BYU, and they both average a over 7 rpg.
Gonzaga (12-3)
Drew Timme came back to avenge last years Final Four loss. The 6'10 All-American remains an intimidating presence in the front court, and he's leads Gonzaga with 16.8 ppg, while grabbing 5.9 rpg.
Chet Holmgren joins Timme up front, and highly anticipated freshman has been consistent early. He's been their most reliable option scoring wise, scoring 15 or more points in 12 of 15 games this season. The 7' phenom is scoring 13.4 ppg, leads the Bulldogs in rebounding (8.4), and swats an impressive 3.5 bpg
Andrew Nembhard also returned for redemption. The former Florida point guard scored 24 points in the win over UCLA, and heleads the team in assists (5.2).
Prediction
Both teams have been stronger on the defensive end than they have offensively. They both come in with a ton of size, and it's due to be a physical battle. We like spotting BYU the points here, as they've showed the ability to play well on the road
