Tonight we have the Rays taking on the Astros in Houston. The Rays enter this game already solidifying a postseason spot as they sit atop the AL East by 7 games. They'll look to get all systems in sync as they head to the postseason. The Astros enter this game in a nice spot in the standings as they sit atop the AL West, currently 4.5 games ahead of the Mariners. They'll look to secure that top spot tonight.
Drew Rasmussen (3-0, 2.67 ERA) will be on the mound for the Rays tonight. Rasmussen enters this game with a 1.04 WHIP and 4.13 XFIP. This season he carries a 23.4% strikeout rate along with an 8.7% walk rate. Rasmussen has been good for the Rays when called upon, which has been to start lately as he has come out of the pen as well. He has been hit hard but hasn't been punished for it yet as he is due to regress some. He has yet to go more than 5 innings in an outting so expect the same in this one until he hands the ball over to the bullpen.
Luis Garcia (11-7, 3.23 ERA) will be on the mound for the Astros when they host the Rays. Garcia enters this game with a 1.15 WHIP and 4.10 XFIP. This season he carries a 27.1% strikeout rate along with a 7.7% walk rate. Garcia has been solid for the Astros, although left handed hitters have been able to get to him for some power and contact. He has handled right handed hitters very well this year as he has been able to induce a good amount of soft contact in the split. He could have his hands full tonight against a Rays team that boasts a few quality left handed at bats.
Tonight we have an even matchup between to of the best teams in the league. They both boast quality offenses and arms. I lean towards the Rays in this one though as I think their bats matchup better against Garcia.
PICK: Rays ML (+108)
