Tonight we have the Mets taking on the Brewers. The Mets enter this game in poor form, coming at the worst time in the season. They currently sit 8 games back in the NL East and will need a miracle to make the postseason. The Brewers come into this game struggling but sitting pretty with the top spot in the NL Central, as they sit 7 games ahead of the Cardinals. They struggled in their series against the Cards so look for them to get back on track with one of their top pitchers taking the mound against a Mets team that has underperformed all year.
Rich Hill (0-3, 3.88 ERA) will be on the mound for the Mets when they take on the Brewers. Hill enters this game with a 1.24 WHIP and 4.88 XFIP. This season he carries a 21.9% strikeout rate along with a 7.7% walk rate. Hill has been decent this year for the Mets. Everytime he has been called upon this year he has put his team in a position to win. He has handled same handed hitters very will this season, right handed hitters on the other hand have been able to get to him with some quality contact and power. Hill could have his hands full in this one as the Brewers post very good numbers against left handed hurlers.
Corbin Burnes (10-4, 2.34 ERA) will be on the mound when the Brewers take on the the Mets. Burnes enters this game with a 0.94 WHIP and 2.49 XFIP, both excellent numbers. This season he boasts a superb 36.1% strikeout rate along with a low 5% walk rate. Burnes has been an absolute unit this year for the Brew Crew. He has handled both sides of the plate and has been able to induce poor and soft contact. He should have no problem handling this Mets team who have dropped 8 of their last 10 games.
I'll be taking the Brewers in this one as there is a good chance that they are held scoreless in this one. The Brewers bats boast some very good statistics against left handed pitching and should be able to get back on track tonight.
PICK: Brewers -1.5 (+105)
