Today the Giants are in Colorado to take on the Rockies for the last game in this 3 game series.  In the previous 2 games the Giants have outscored the Rockies 22-8, putting up scores of 10-5, and lastnight winning 12-3.  The Giants come into this game with a 1 game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West and will look to pick up another easy win tonight to try stay ahead of the Dodgers.  The Rockies come into this game with a very nice home record, but that is the only positive they have going for them as they have no hope to make the postseason.

Pitching matchup

Anthony DeSclafani (11-6, 3.24 ERA) will be on the mound when the Giants take on the Rockies.  He enters this game with a 1.09 WHIP and 4.29 XFIP.  This season DeSclafani has a 23.1% strikeout rate and nice 6.9% walk rate.  He has been pretty good this year after joining the Giants, though he does have a couple poor outtings in 2 of his previous 3 starts. This will be the 4th time this season DeSclafani will see this Rockies team, today marks the first time he will be pitching in Coors field for the matchup.  He has been able to shut down this Rockies offense this year to a tune of 20 innings, striking out 21 hitters, and only allowing a total of 2 ER's in those the games. He has allowed some power to left handed batters this year but other than that DeSclafanin looks to handle this Rockies team once again and pick up is 12th win of the year.

Jon Gray (7-10, 4.13 ERA) will take the bump for the Rockies at home today.  Gray comes into this game with a 1.32  WHIP and 4.44 XFIP.  This season he carries a 23.2% strikeout rate paired with a high 9.4% walk rate.  Gray has been up and down this year with a mixed bag of results.  This will be the 3rd time Gray faces off with this Giants team, and for the first time at Coors field.  In his previous starts against the Giants he has thrown 10.1 innings, striking out 13, while allowing a total of 5 ER's. Gray's innings have been down recently compared to the rest of the season so the Rockies managment may be limiting his work load.  He will have his work cut out for him against a hot Giants squad.

The two starting pitchers have had success against each other and the underlying stats make you want to take the under in this one, but the Giants bats have just been so good in the 2 games prior in this series.  I'll continue to roll with the Giants in this one.
